Facebook?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to loathe Facebook.

1) I'm sick of all the "check-ins." If you're not familiar with Facebook (Fb), people can let other people know where they are or have been by checking into locations. So I will get a notification when you're at a restaurant. I usually don't get these very often anymore because I just hide all posts from frequent check-in'ers (that hide button is probably the best feature on fb).

2) Pictures of food. Ok, I don't mind people taking pictures of food if it's something interesting or different..but when you're taking pics of everything you eat, I don't understand it. Are you trying to brag about the amount of food you eat? Or just plain bragging?

3) People who frequently update statuses. Does anybody really care how you're feeling every 15 mins, or what you're doing every 30 mins? (Again, the hide button = your best friend)

4) How fb replaces a lot of birthday etiquette; writing a simple "Happy Birthday!!! :)" is suddenly equivalent to sending a handwritten card + small gift.

5) People posting up pics to make sure that everyone knows how much fun they're having, when in reality that only happens once a month and it's usually not as fun as it may seem in pics. This is usually a response to feeling like other people are having more fun than them. It's a catch-22... no one wins.

One positive thing about fb is that it makes people available to me...for instance, I can easily send Jane Smith a msg to contact her when before, I'd probably wouldn't have the connection. Also, it helps me remember people I met only once that I would otherwise forget about.

There have been some studies coming out that shows that Fb is actually negatively affecting users causing depression, low self-esteem, lonlieness, and it actually is becoming the number one reason for couples to split up (Forbes said 1 in 5 divorces now involve fb).

What are your thoughts?

Some basic beauty tips

All my younger life my mom constantly told me that I needed to take care of my skin. She probably gave me hundreds of products to use on my face and taught me multiple things that should be nightly routines. I have never listened to them and kind of nodded along with agreement but tuned her out.

Lately I'm noticing that I don't look as young and vibrant as I used to. Now I'm trying to remember everything she told me (sort of like how I cram before exams).

Anyways, I started to put on weekly masks and started using exfoliators and I'm noticing an improvement in my skin.

My Christmas present from my mom was:

(a typical gift from her). I've been using this for about a week and I'm impressed with how my face is smoother and how much better my makeup applies.

Here are some tips that my mom has been engraining into my mind since I was 8 years old:

1) ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wear sunblock! "The sun is poison"

2) Exfoliate your skin at least once a week (depending on which product you use...the aforementioned product states that it's safe to use on a daily basis)

3) Use night moisturizers after you cleanse your face. They should be heavier than your daily moisturizer.

4) Use eye cream (you want to constantly keep it moist so it won't wrinkle as fast)

5) Don't forget to use sunblock on your neck (this is something that's hard for me...but I'm determined to make it into my routine)

If you guys get anything from this post, remember it's never too early to start taking care of your face!

Optometry anyone?

So I have stopped making make-up videos due to pure laziness...but I have started making some videos that might be helpful for those that are interested in going to optometry school:

So you can be cool and wear this nifty white jacket

:) Enjoy!

Happy New Year's!!

We decided to go out to a club/party atmosphere this year just to see what it would be like...now that we have, def not going to do it again! Waited 1 1/2 hours in freezing (in Californian terms, 55 is freezing!) just to get in, it was super crowded, and being old fogies, we left an hour upon arriving.

NYE will be remembered as the day we officially became a old married couple that would rather spend time at home watching netflix movies and eating gifted chocolates.

I have made my new year's resolutions:

I have joined my first gym membership at an LA Fitness and am loving the classes available! Also, Nate and I have decided that this year will be a good year to finally start trying to get pregnant :)

I don't know how I'll keep my resolutions...esp since I can't remember what my last year's were.

Hope this year is even better than 2010!

The latest CommunityChannel youtube video totally hit home for me. She was basically saying how there were certain people (usually girls) that were unusually self-conscious about how they came out in pictures.

I remember this one time in junior high school, being asian and in the 90's, a group of friends and I went to get a group picture done. You know what I'm talking about...dressing up in matching clothes and going to a cheesy photo place that gave you the same 3 generic poses:

1) Looking away from the camera..and looking serious (mine always came out like I was confused)

2) Putting your chin on your hand

3) Putting your hand on the next girl's shouder..and again looking serious, but this time looking at the camera

And I remember one of the girls was very photo-self-conscious and kept trying to convince everyone that one of the poses looked the best. As you have well have guessed, she looked good while half the other girls weren't aware that the picture was being taken (I usually came out confused anyways).

I thought people grew out of this but even lately, I see people take pictures and then demand to see how they turn out. If they look bad, they will DELETE the picture to eliminate proof that they aren't always photogenic.

I understand there are unflattering angles where some people might look fatter, or uglier(?), or whatever. But I don't understand why they don't want ANY unflattering pictures of themselves.

The most annoying is when I'm in a picture with my friends and one of them decide that it's a really hideous one and they demand to delete it. Especially when it's one of those rare ones where I actually look half-decent.

I'm just saying...

And in that note, here are some pics that I find pretty unflattering but will proudly post...let's love every picture of ourselves, unflattering and all!

My complex is always my hair...specifically my bangs and my oversized head. But I've come to terms because it's filled with a pretty large brain (at least that's what my mom keeps saying).

UGH I hate when my hair goes all phonemic and does the "S".

Man.. I just realized how much I love my black and gray striped shirt..the pics where I'm wearing it are at three different cities in the span of 2 years...note to self, stop wearing that shirt (or just don't take any pictures with it on).
